We are excited to announce the 5th International Carnival Arts Conference, taking place over three vibrant days in Montreal from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th June 2025 This year’s theme is “The Business of Carnival,” focusing on Caribbean-style carnivals and their economic, social, and cultural impacts.
About the Conference
The conference, led by the World Carnival Commission (WCC), will delve into the intricate business aspects of Caribbean-style carnivals. From funding and sponsorship to the role of artists and organisers, and the legacy and sustainability of carnivals, this event promises insightful discussions and networking opportunities.

- Dates: Tuesday 24th June to Thursday 26th June 2025
- Location: Montreal Canada venue TBC
- Host: WCC Vice President, World Junkanoo Festival and local cultural groups
- Partners: Partnerships and collaborations will allow this to be a whole week of culture joined with the World Junkanoo Festival 3-day event, thereby making this event to take place from Monday 22nd June to Sunday 28th June 2025

Call for Papers
We invite researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts from around the world to submit papers on topics related to the business of Caribbean-style carnivals. Selected papers will be presented in panel discussions and breakout sessions throughout the conference.
Submission Guidelines
- Deadline: 26 January 2025
- Topics: Any aspect of the business of Caribbean-style carnivals, including but not limited to:
- Funding and sponsorship strategies
- Corporate and commercial involvement
- Financial models and sustainability
- The role of artists and organisers
- Legacy and self-sufficiency of carnivals
- Use of Ai and other tools to benefit Carnival
